Allen Rokach returns to Bernheim to offer this popular class. Timed for peak fall color, this workshop puts you into direct communication with one of the world’s most acclaimed nature photographers in Kentucky’s most beautiful fall landscape. In this two-day intensive workshop targeting advanced beginner to serious photographers you will learn techniques to capture the essence of nature with your camera.
Through lectures, field sessions, review critiques and individual consultations you will:
• Understanding the difference between “beautiful” and “photogenic”
• Learn how to make the best use of natural light throughout the day
• Learn techniques in composition, line, shape and texture
• Work with motion and reflection
• Achieve precise focus and controlled depth of field
• Establish a sense of place and mood matched to your mind’s eye
• Explore after-capture techniques to enhance your minds vision
The workshop will culminate with a presentation and review of your photographs as well as a discussion on after-capture techniques that can improve your final image. TOP
ABOUT ALLEN ROKACH:
Allen Rokach has spent more than thirty years traveling the world on outdoor photography assignments for publications and corporate clients. His special love and expertise in nature, garden and flower photography was nurtured during twelve years as staff photographer and Director of Photography at The New York Botanical Garden and ten years as a Senior Photographer at Southern Living Magazine. With his wife, Anne Millman, Allen co-authored scores of articles and eight books on photography including the award-winning Focus on Flowers: Discovering and Photographing Beauty in Gardens and Wild Places. Mr Rokach takes beautiful and often haunting photographs that convey a sense of place while capturing the essence of nature. Allen has taught workshops all over the world including the International Center of Photography, the Santa Fe Photo Workshop, the Chicago Botanic Garden and his own Center for Nature Photography. EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS:
• Digital Camera (compact, point-and-shoot or DSLR)
• If you have a laptop computer bring it with you.
• Back-up camera (if possible)
• Any combination of lenses that cover the range from 18-200 mm range
• Bring a macro lens or extension tubes or screw-on close-up lenses if you have them.
• Polarizing filters for each lens
• Tripod
• Sufficient memory cards (Minimum: two 2-gig cards)
• Extra batteries for camera and flash
• Manuals for your equipment
• Be prepared for weather and walking in wet grass. [In case of rain
consider plastic bags and rubber bands to cover your equipment. Hotel shower caps
work well for this. Rain poncho, waterproof bags, proper shoes, etc. ]
• A small towel for drying the camera.
• A hat and sun block.

Saturday, October 22nd [Arrive by 7:45 am]
Sunrise: 7:57 am Sunset: 6:56 pm
Location: Meet in the parking area of the Education Center which is beyond the Visitor Center on the main loop. You will meet your instructor in the parking area to receive instructions on the morning photo shoot.
Coffee and fruit will be available in the morning.
Lunch is on-your-own. You may bring a sack lunch or eat at Isaac’s Café in the Visitor Center.
