Bernheim Trails

Bernheim has over 35 miles of scenic trails and fire roads available for hiking. Looping through the knobs and valleys, along ridges and hollows, Bernheim's trails offer a diversity of hiking opportunities for the casual as well as the more serious hiker. Remember that this is Kentucky knobs land so expect hills and slopes that may be slippery when wet.  If you are looking for relatively flat walks with gentle inclines, try the Lake Nevin Loop, Bent Twig Loop, or Two Ponds Loop.  For a better understanding and appreciation of the forest types through which our trails travel, check out our Natural Areas page.

The Millennium Trail takes visitors through previously unopened areas of Bernheim and is approximately 13.3 miles in length.  Allow for 6-7 hours hiking time depending on individual ability.  For safety purposes we ask that you register at the Visitor Center by 10:30 a.m. from April-October and by 9:30 a.m. from November - March.

We also have a Hike-Bike Pike that runs along Long Lick Creek and the railway across St Rt 245 from the main part of Bernheim.  You access this trail from a parking lot located across the road from the Clermont post office.  Just turn off St. Rt. 245 at the Jim Beam sign and you'll see the parking area on your right.  The trail is a combination of packed gravel and blacktop pavement and runs about 3.2 miles.  Several short but steep hills, and the gravel sections, may challenge young or inexperienced riders.  It is not a loop so you return the way you went out.
