This one-day workshop will introduce you to the three parameters of wetlands (vegetation, soils, hydrology) as well as wetland functions and values through fun and interactive hands-on investigations that are correlated to National Science standards for the classroom.

The Planning of Wetlands: Postponed until Fall 2010; call for details Cost: $50/person (A curriculum guide is included in the registration fee.) This one-day course introduces educators to the concept of schoolyard wetland habitats, including wetland design, construction, monitoring, project funding and most importantly, their contribution as an extension of the classroom.

• Participants have the option to register for one or both of the programs.
• Register for both classes and receive a $5 discount.
• Both classes have been pre-approved through the Jefferson County Public Schools to provide
   professional development credit. Bernheim will provide supporting information to teachers
   in other school systems to apply for credit on their own. Jefferson County Public Schools
   can find more information on PD Central.
• Schools represented by a participant in at least one of these workshops will receive
   a 10% discount off of any water ecology field trip scheduled at Bernheim between
   August 1 and November 1, 2010.
