Each quarter Bernheim partners with a kindred organization to read and discuss a book under the shade of a tree. It’s a way to invite lively debate, friendship and advance thinking that allows us to explore our connections to nature.
Our partner organization this quarter is The Louisville Climate Action Network (louisvillecan.org) and the discussion leader is Dr. John Cumbler, professor of history at UofL. The book is: Reclaiming the Commons by Brian Donahue. The author argues that as people concerned about the natural world we make a mistake on focusing on wilderness and the wild while letting the world we actually live and work in become more and more environmentally constrained and ignored.
